The value of essential work was laid bare when the pandemic struck, and with it, an understanding that those who keep us going deserve a Living Wage. Through 2020, EndPovertyEdmonton helped the Alberta Living Wage Network (ALWN) acquire a coordinator and ensured support for that position through an innovative partnership between the ALWN, Vibrant Communities Calgary, EndPovertyEdmonton and the Edmonton Social Planning Council. With this support, the ALWN has been able to bring more employers into the conversation, understand their needs and perspectives and pilot a recognition program. Watch for a wider launch coming soon.
